Full installation guide

Every UsefulIndicators product installs through NinjaTrader 8's built-in import tool — no coding, no manual file moving, no technical knowledge required. This page covers both installation methods, how to add the indicator to your chart, how to configure settings, and every common issue you might run into. Follow the steps in order and you will be up and running in under 2 minutes.

Method 1 — Recommended

ZIP Import Easiest

Use NT8's built-in importer. Takes under 2 minutes and works for every UsefulIndicators product.

01
Download the ZIP file
Go to the product page and click Download Free. You will receive a .zip file. Keep it as a ZIP — do not extract or unzip it.
02
Open NT8 and go to Import
Open the NinjaTrader 8 Control Center. In the top menu click:
Tools → Import → NinjaScript Add-On
A file browser will open. Navigate to your downloaded ZIP and select it. Click Open.
03
Add to your chart
Once imported, right-click on any chart and go to:
Right-click chart → Indicators → [indicator name] → Add
Configure the settings in the panel that appears and click OK. The indicator is now live on your chart.
04
Save your workspace
NT8 saves indicator settings per chart template. To keep your settings across restarts, save your workspace:
File → Save Workspace
Method 2 — Advanced

Manual .cs File

For users who received a raw .cs source file instead of a ZIP, or prefer manual installation.

01
Copy the file to the NT8 folder
Copy the .cs file into this folder on your computer:
Documents \ NinjaTrader 8 \ bin \ Custom \ Indicators \
02
Compile in NT8
Open NinjaTrader 8 and go to:
Tools → Edit NinjaScript → Indicator
Find the indicator in the list, select it and click Compile. You should see a green success message. If you see errors, contact support.
03
Add to chart
Same as Method 1 Step 3 — right-click your chart, go to Indicators, find it in the list and click Add.
Troubleshooting

Something not working?

Indicator not showing in the list after import
NT8 may need to compile the script manually. Go to Tools → Edit NinjaScript → Indicator, find the indicator and click Compile. Then restart your chart.
Import error when selecting the ZIP
Make sure you are selecting the original .zip file — not a folder or extracted contents. If you unzipped it, re-download the original ZIP from the product page.
Compile error — "already contains a definition"
You likely have an older version of the same indicator already installed. Remove it first via Tools → Edit NinjaScript → Indicator, delete the old file, then re-import.
Settings not saving between sessions
NT8 saves indicator settings per chart template. After configuring the indicator, save your workspace via File → Save Workspace.
Indicator disappeared after NT8 restart
The indicator is still installed — your workspace just wasn't saved. Re-open your chart, add the indicator again, and save the workspace this time.
Still stuck?
Send an email with your NT8 version number and a description of the issue. Response within 24–48 hours.
